Endocrinologist & Obstetric Medicine PhysicianDr Christine Houlihan (MBBS, FRACP, MD) graduated from Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 1992 and completed her postgraduate specialist training in Endocrinology in 1999. She obtained a doctorate (MD) in the clinical research area of diabetic kidney disease, following this she did 2 years of laboratory based research at University of Chicago, USA. She currently works in both private practice at Barkly Place Consulting rooms and the Private consulting suites in Mercy hospital, Heidelberg. Her public hospital appointments are at Mercy Hospital for Women perinatal unit caring for women with pre-existing diabetes/medical/endocrinology disorders in pregnancy. She also works at the weight control clinic at the Austin Hospital. Dr Houlihan consults on a range of issues including Diabetes Mellitus (Type 1 & Type 2), thyroid disease, pituitary and adrenal disorders, weight management, PCOS and other endocrine disorders.
